ChatLoft Privacy Policy

Effective August 31, 2026

The short version: ChatLoft has no server, no account, and no analytics. Your folders, chats, and snippets live in your own browser and nowhere else. We could not read your data even if we wanted to, because it never reaches us.

What ChatLoft stores, and where

ChatLoft keeps your folders, chat titles and links, prompt snippets, and settings in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB and chrome.storage) on your device. Nothing is uploaded, synced to a cloud, or sent to the developer. Backups you download are ordinary files saved wherever you choose, under your control.

What ChatLoft connects to

When you click Sync or Export, ChatLoft fetches your conversation list or conversation contents directly from chatgpt.com using the ChatGPT session you are already logged into. That data travels straight from chatgpt.com to your device and is stored only there. ChatLoft makes no other network requests and cannot see any website other than chatgpt.com.

What ChatLoft never does

Payments (Pro plan)

If you choose to upgrade to ChatLoft Pro, checkout is handled by ExtensionPay and Stripe on their own pages. ChatLoft never sees or stores your card details. ExtensionPay keeps the email address you use at checkout so your license can be recognized; their handling of that data is described in their own privacy policy. Using the free tier involves no payment data at all.

Permissions, explained

Your controls

Settings has an "Erase all ChatLoft data" button that deletes everything ChatLoft stores on the device. Uninstalling the extension does the same. Your actual ChatGPT conversations are never modified or deleted by ChatLoft either way.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Since ChatLoft collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare and boring.
